Overview

Sonodyne Professional presents a range of cinema speakers in keeping with the sound needs of today’s dynamic soundtracks.

The cinema stage is divided into 3 distinctive types of speakers for each channel: main, surround, and LFE (or subwoofer).

These are some of the key features of each our solutions for each channel.

The main speakers are called Soundstage. As opposed to traditional 2 way systems, the Soundstage are 3 way speakers. By utilizing three separate transducer sections to reproduce the main channels (L, C, R) the audience is guaranteed very high detailing, especially in the critical midrange (voice, string instruments, percussions) bandwidth. Additionally, the loudspeaker is far less prone to overdrive due to dynamics (e.g., explosions and special sound effects).

The CLF 28 is an earth-shaking 1200 Watt subwoofer. It has 2 x 18” high excursion transducers, front loaded into a rigid, compact MDF cabinet with heavy internal bracing. Ported, it goes all the way down to 28 Hz at -6 dB giving a true low frequency extension. This can be used in singles or stacked, depending on the total SPL required to fill the theatre. The CLF 18 is a smaller version for smaller theatres.

Surround channels create the ambience and are an essential channel for the sound designer. The CSR 8 and 12 are no compromise surround speakers. The bigger CSR 12 is capable of very high SPLs and dynamics due its being horn loaded and can be used in large theatres. The smaller CSR 8 is an affordable yet high sound quality surround speaker for smaller theatres. As opposed to traditional ‘squawk-boxes’ that are used for surround channels, the CSR surrounds provide a neutral sound reproduction at affordable prices. Both have wall mount brackets and an inclined baffle to aim the sound towards the audience.
